Today, Valley has long been recognized as L.A.’s premier wholesaler affording our customers the finest produce at the most competitive prices. One would consider our facilities state-of-the-art with the most sophisticated computer systems linking the additional departments and warehouses which are off these premises. The dispatch office is equipped with a unique fleet computer system to track our 28 bobtails and 9 semi’s. This system is mainly used to improve our company’s efficiency and productivity to dispatch the driver closest to the customer in need of service and also to direct that driver along the shortest route to the pickup or delivery site. In addition, all the salesmen and warehouse employees are equipped with cellular phones and walkie-talkies to better service our customers. Among our many and exciting new ventures, construction has just been completed on our warehouse, designed to easily regulate temperatures to store all varieties of produce as well as improve the produce quality through proper storage techniques. Also, this warehouse is equipped with 30 banana ripening rooms. This state-of-the-art facility is 92,000 square feet and located just across from the LAWPM, both which are convenient to all the major freeways. All truck drivers will find this warehouse beneficial, as the entrance and egress to this property is easily accessible. In addition, they will appreciate the flexibility of the facility’s loading hours, which are 6:00 p.m. on Sundays and until 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays. We have ten separate produce departments, each one specializing in groups of commodities affording a specialized approach and a high degree of professionalism. Every salesman has the ability to capture not only our product movement, but also, our system is designed so they have immediate access to inventory information and can do a better job filling the order. The warehouse employees are carefully selected to receive extensive program training in the care and handling of the highly perishable produce. We believe the safety and sanitation of produce comes first, above the receiving and storage handling. Unlike other produce companies, we have the ability to quickly respond to our customer’s precise needs, such as the Defense Department’s contract #SP0300-97-AGU-49. At that time, our warehouse was one of the main receiving facilities consolidating and distributing fresh produce for the military. Valley provided all products for the site deliveries and used our own transportation. Through the years, we believe that much of our success is due in part to complying with the minority employment requirement standards of this city, creating a long-term employee relationship in the Los Angeles area.
